DATA PRIVACY POLICY

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Deutsche Telekom AG attaches great importance to protecting your personal data. We always inform you about the personal data we collect during your visit to our websites, how it is used and how you can influence the process. The following information on data privacy provides answers to the most important questions.

WHAT DATA IS COLLECTED AND HOW IS IT USED?

In the provision of our services

Technical features: When you visit our websites, the Web server temporarily records the domain name or IP address of your computer, the client’s file request (file name and URL), the http response code and the website from which you are visiting us.

Cookies: We use cookies for certain services. These are small text files that are stored on your computer. They enable the system to tell if you repeatedly visit websites from the same computer.

Session cookies are cookies which are only stored on your computer for the duration of your Internet session and are required for transactions, for example, to complete a purchase. They simply contain a transaction ID.

You can set your browser to prevent these cookies from being stored on your computer or to delete the cookies at the end of your Internet session. However, please remember that if you do so you may not have access to the full range of functions offered by our websites. Information on the browser settings (in German only) can be found at: https://www.sicherdigital.de/sicher-surfen#sicher-surfen-browsereinstellungen

Other personal details such as your name, address, telephone number or email address will not be collected unless you provide this information voluntarily.

WHERE IS MY DATA PROCESSED?

Your data is always processed in Germany. Data is only processed outside Germany in individual cases and in line with legal provisions.

HOW SECURE IS MY DATA?

We have taken extensive technical and operational security precautions in accordance with German law to protect your data against unauthorised access and misuse.

IS MY DATA PASSED ONTO THIRD PARTIES (E.G. PUBLIC AUTHORITIES)?

Yes, certain data has to be passed on; this procedure is governed by strict contractual and legal regulations:

To external service providers for data processing:
Service providers only come into contact with our customers’ personal data within the framework of what is known as ‘commissioned data processing’, which is explicitly stipulated in § 11 Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz – BDSG). In such cases, we also remain responsible for protecting your data. The provider follows our instructions at all times when working with your data. To ensure that this is guaranteed, we have put strict contractual regulations in place and carry out technical/organisational measures and supplementary checks as required.
Based on legal requirements:
In certain cases, we are legally obliged to pass on data if requested to do so by a state body.
We do not pass on your data to third parties for any other purpose, unless you have given express permission for us to do so or this is permitted by law.

WILL MY USAGE HABITS BE EVALUATED (E.G. FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES)?

We or companies commissioned by us create usage profiles under pseudonyms to the extent which is permitted by law. These can be evaluated for advertising and market research or for designing websites in line with requirements. This information cannot be traced back to you directly. The profile data is not linked to any other information about your person. The following informs you about the processes used on our websites and how you can revoke consent at any time.

Tag management with Tealium
Tealium IQ is a tag management system that allows measurement pixels from third-party providers to be loaded onto our websites (e.g. the Webtrekk measurement pixel). To optimise loading of the measurement pixels, Tealium collects certain non-personal data using a cookie. This cookie is only valid for 12 months. The following information is stored in the Tealium cookie:

Timestamp of the website visit

If you wish to reject the Tealium cookies, you can disable these. Stipulate in your browser settings that cookies from the ‘tealium.hs.llnwd.net’ domain should be blocked.

WHAT IS CONVERSION TRACKING AND HOW IS IT USED?

If you reached our websites via a Google ad, an affiliate ad or a Deutsche Telekom email, a cookie is stored on your computer by Google AdWords, Metalyzer or Teradata. This cookie becomes invalid after 30 days. No conclusions can be drawn about you as a person.

We use the information collected with the aid of the conversion cookie to create statistics about our conversion rate, meaning that we can find out how many users came to our websites via a Google ad, an affiliate ad or a Deutsche Telekom email, and acquired a product within 30 days.

If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can disable cookies for conversion tracking by going to your browser settings and specifying that cookies from the relevant domain are to be blocked:
